Run, run as fast as you can
After a long recovery from Lyme Disease, my battle with that is over. However, beating the lingering and debilitating bacteria was only one battle. I needed to return to the way I was by trying to get back into shape. In late May, I stumbled upon an 8 week program called 'Couch to 5K' (hosted by Norton's in conjunction with the Splash 'n' Dash event). My doctor helped me get the necessary physical therapy so I wouldn't hurt myself. Inspiration came from several friends who posted their running journey's on facebook. My husband has provided support and encouragement. Bair, our black lab, has become my jogging/walking partner. The time is near and I'd like to ask you to share in my victory of accomplishing this small step to better health by making a donation to Norton Children's Hospital - see info below:
Norton Children's Hospital serves all patients regardless of their ability to pay. As a not-for-profit organization, facilities rely on the generosity of the community to help fulfill their mission to provide for the physical and emotional health of children, from birth to age 18. It takes the generosity of everyone in the community to enable this hospital to be here for all children – if and when they need it.
With your financial help, the funds raised from Splash 'n' Dash will support the hospital in the following ways:
- Recruit key clinical and research leaders
- Purchase state-of-the-art technology and equipment for use by the hospital's health care professionals
- Expand important regional patient care programs
- Construct facilities and enhance specialty areas to better serve patients and families
Splash 'n' Dash challenges participants to raise funds, participate in a family friendly 5K or 1k water themed obstacle run and to celebrate our fundraising efforts at the finish line.
Every dollar raised goes directly to child care right here at home, at Norton Children’s Hospital. For more information, call (502) 629-8060.
