When you sign up to participate in the Bike to Beat Cancer, you commit to helping make a difference for the thousands of people in the community touched by cancer each year. This means raising funds that will help with prevention and early detection initiatives, survivorship and clinical research at Norton Cancer Institute.
Riders commit to reaching a minimum fundraising goal based on their participant type. Those who raise $1,000 or more become a Champion, receiving a special jersey and wristband to wear the day of the ride.
What are the best ways to raise funds?
- Personalize your profile page with information about why you are participating.
- Send an e-mail to your friends and family, asking them to make an online donation. (To do this, log in to your personal profile page and follow the directions.)
- Send a letter or handwritten note to people, along with copies of the donation form.
- Hold a fundraising party, and ask people to sponsor you.
- Be creative!
How can friends and family make a donation online?
On the home page of the website, friends and family can locate a participant by clicking on the “Donate” button. They can type in the name of a participant and be directed to the participant’s profile page.
Can I send a donation using traditional mail?
Yes. Just mail a check and completed donation form that has the name of the rider or volunteer you are sponsoring. Make sure you mail both items to the address indicated on the donation form.
How can I see who has sponsored me?
If you’ve chosen the default settings on your profile page, you will automatically receive an e-mail notifying you when a donation has been made. Or, you can log in to the site and go to your profile page, then click on the “My Progress” tab to view your donor list and the amounts that have been donated.
How do donors obtain tax receipts?
Those who donate online with a valid e-mail address will receive a tax receipt via e-mail. Donors who mail in a donation will receive a receipt by e-mail if they provide a valid e-mail address.
How do I change a name on the fundraising honor roll?
To update or change a name on the fundraising honor roll, simply call (502) 629-8159 or send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org with the revised information, and we will update your list for you.
How do I change my personal fundraising goal?
Once you reach the minimum fundraising goal, it will be reflected on your personal profile. Your individual “thermometer” will then show the next level you may work toward.
Why am I raising money?
Each year, more and more people in our community are diagnosed with cancer and need care. There are even more people who need cancer screenings but cannot afford them. Norton Cancer Institute is working to make sure our community has the care it needs, from prevention initiatives and screenings, to treatment to support and survivorship programs. That’s the reason each rider has a minimum fundraising goal. Each year, the Norton Healthcare Foundation supports these important Norton Cancer Institute initiatives, and we need your help.
