Welcome to Tracy Popp's Page!
I am honored to ride with this group. We ride for Leesa Popp.
For many years, I have been a volunteer for this yearly event. In 2017, I made the switch to become a rider for my best friend-for-ever (BFFE)/sister-in-law. She was diagnosed with Advanced Ovarian Cancer on January 1, 2017. Leesa was an incredible lady and friend. She was stronger than the storm during the past 18 months. She had the desire to live beyond this cancer. Cancer never took her grace, her compassion, her love for people or her sense of humor. It robbed her of many other things, but it never took her heart.
Unfortunately, God had a different plan for Leesa that didn't match up with the one we wanted. Now, it is up to us to continue her life beyond cancer for the next person. I ride for my Best Friend ForEVER (BFFE). I love her dearly and will ride all 35 miles to support the dash with her riding as my angel urging me on!
Also, I ride for Doug Henderson. Synovial Sarcoma Cancer stole my friend/co-worker's life at the age of 27. He was an extremely determined man that fought cancer until the very end! He remains an inspiration in my life! He is the reason I work in clinical research. On the day of the ride 09/08/18, it will be 15 years since his passing. I think of him often, especially during September each year.
This group is joining hundreds of others to beat cancer by participating in the Bike to Beat Cancer, a one day cycling event to benefit Norton Cancer Institute. I want to make a difference for the thousands of people in my community touched by cancer. The funds I raise will stay right here, helping with prevention, early detection, research and treatment for this disease.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
