Welcome to My Personal Page
Dear Friends & Family,
This September, on the 10th anniversary of this special event, the two of us will be joining hundreds of others to help beat cancer. We will be participating in the Bike to Beat Cancer, a one day cycling event in my home town of Louisville, Kentucky. I will be riding the 35 mile course and Anne will be riding the 15 mile course. We want to make a difference for the many people touched by cancer. The funds we raise will help with prevention, early detection, research and treatment for this disease.
Although the name of our team is "Just For Kids", we are riding for everyone. All of us have been touched by cancer in one way or another. And, because it has also touched us, we will also be riding for five special people who have fought the fight of defeating cancer. They are John Cramer, Anne's brother who lost his battle on July 31, 2016, Jorene Lett, Anne’s Aunt, who lost her battle with Multiple Myeloma on December 21, 2017, Emily Ayers, our dear friends Ed & Carol Ayers' 10 year old granddaughter. Emily has fought the battle by being treated at Duke Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Program in Durham, NC. My neighbor and buddy, Lewis Beilman, who was treated by the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and is handling everyday life like a real champ. And, our dear neighbor and friend, Maureen Goldfarb who just lost her battle on April 28, 2018.
Our inspiration for this ride is my brother Gary, who as a volunteer at Norton's Children Hospital in Louisville, challenged us to ride and participate again this year. This will be our 4th year participating in this special event.
As we have done in the past, we will meet up in Louisville to ride together. We have been riding as much as we can to get our bodies in shape for this worthwhile challenge.
If possible, please support our efforts to build hope and to beat cancer! Thank you in advance for your help.
Tom & Anne Byrne
