Welcome to my personal page for the Bike to Beat Cancer 2019
Dear Family and Friends,
Hi! My name is April Frye. I'm participating in my 9th Bike to Beat Cancer, a one day cycling event to benefit Norton Cancer Institute. I want to make a difference for the thousands of people in my community touched by cancer. The funds I raise will stay right here, helping with prevention, early detection and treatment for this disease.
In July 2013 cancer touched my family in a very personal way. My father, Johnie Burton, was diagnosed with lung cancer. Watching my father struggle and fight the ugly beast known as cancer was very difficult.Sadly, my father lost his battle with cancer on February 26, 2016. Seeing cancer take away my dad's hope and seeing the havoc it wreaked on his body is something that will not be easily forgotten. My daughter, Della Grace, was my dad's pride and joy. I am sad that he is not going to be here to watch her grow up. My dad's death makes this year's Bike to Beat Cancer even more personal. Being part of this ride is something small that I can do to hopefully make a difference for those are battling cancer now and for those who are yet to be diagnosed.
Any donation that you make to help me support the Norton Cancer Institute and people like my father would be greatly appreciated. Cancer sucks! Riding my bicycle and raising money for this great cause is one thing I can do to hopefully make a difference.
The greatest gift I ever had came from God; I call him Dad!
Please support my efforts to build hope and beat cancer! Thank you in advance for your help.
